Part Way is OK

Many students, particularly in outer suburban and regional areas, live some distance from their school. Part Way is OK gives students the opportunity to be able to walk or ride no matter how far they live from school.

A successtful initiative of the Ride2School Program, Part Way is OK is a proven strategy that aims to get students riding, walking, skating or scooting for part of their journey to school. If the distance between home and school is too far to ride or walk - or if the journey between home and school is unsafe and on busy main roads - then Part Way is OK is the ideal solution.

Part Way is OK also reduces drop-off congestion around the school by having a few drop-off points within walking distance to the school. Parents are encouraged to drop off their children at designated points to get more students to walk or ride part of the way to school.

Part Way is OK is as easy as 4 simple steps:

  1. Identify how many students actively travel to school
  2. Identify where your students are travelling from, both in terms of direction (most frequented streets) and distance
  3. Identify Part Way is OK drop off points
  4. Communicate and promote.

Ride2School is proud to present the comprehensive Part Way is OK Resource Kit to help schools and local councils deliver Part Way is OK.
