Get involved

As a parent the easiest, most effective way to get involved is to encourage your child to walk or ride to school. Leave the car at home and get those feet and pedals working for a healthier and more sustainable future.

For those of you looking for something more than just encouraging active travel at home here are some ways you can get involved in Ride2School:

Volunteering

If you are looking for a way to make a real difference within your child's school and in your local community then volunteering with Ride2School is for you!

Promote the benefits of walking and riding in your local community

As a parent you have a degree of influence over other parents in your school community. Lead by example and help promote the benefits of walking and riding to other parents at your school. Simply talking about it can be an effective first step to change. The more it's discussed and accepted the more normalised it will be to leave the car at home and walk, ride, skate or scoot to school.

Get your child's school to join in the program

Is your child's school a Ride2School school? Get them on board! The program is easy, it's free and the benefits to the school are huge. Direct them to our website or they can speak to one of the team on (03) 8376 8888.  The Ride2School team understand it can be challenging for parents to influence teachers and principals. We are here to help you so contact us.

Offer your child's school some assistance with collecting & entering HandsUp! data

Teachers are busy and sometimes collecting HandsUp! data once a month isn't possible. If you have some time once a month to lend a helping hand have a chat with your principal about helping with the HandsUp! data collection. This data is a crucial part of the Ride2School Program and entering the data each month is what gives registered schools access to all the program benefits.
