Bicycle Network: Volunteers
About volunteering with Ride2School
If you are looking for a way to make a real difference in your local community then volunteering with Ride2School is for you!
"Becoming a Ride2School volunteer is rewarding, satisfying and fun!"
Becoming a Ride2School volunteer is a fantastic way to give back to the community and get more kids on bikes.
Why? Because our volunteers are the backbone of Ride2School and a key ingredient to the program realising its goal of getting more children riding and walking to school more often. We want to increase our numbers of volunteers so we can increase our reach and efficacy.
The types of activities we need your help with include:
- assisting with Bike Ed and bike rides
- conducting simple bike maintenance checks
- class/assembly presentations
- helping during National Ride2School Day and other active travel events.
We've also got some office-based activities if that's where your skills lie. Once trained, you will be equipped with the skills to assist schools.
We are looking to recruit keen members of the community like parents, grandparents, teachers, part time workers, retirees and university students that are available to assist during school hours.
Benefits include:
- contributing to your local community
- satisfaction of teaching students new skills
- experience and contacts for future employment
So if you are interested in donating your energy, time and talents, if you are looking to learn new skills, and most importantly if you want to help get more children riding (with all the health, self-reliance and environmental benefits that brings them) express your interest in becoming a volunteer.
