All you need to know to have a successful Ride2School Day celebration.
In the 1970s, 80% of school children were active on the way to school. Today, only 20% experience the joy of getting fresh air on the school journey. National Ride2School Day provides an opportunity for Australian students, parents and teachers to give riding, walking, skating or scooting to school a go, while celebrating the regular walkers and wheelers.
On this day, an active journey to school is normal and the entire school community gets behind it. It is a chance for the nation to celebrate and prove it can be done. After showing it’s achievable we encourage school communities to utilise our Ride2School program to assist them in keeping the momentum going throughout the entire year.
3 steps to celebrate National Ride2School Day
It’s easy to participate and make a bold statement within your local school community.
1. Simply register your school here for official participation.
Registering shows your community that you are taking the lead in combating increasing levels of inactivity that have real consequences for students well-being. Registering also enables the Ride2School Program to assist you in encouraging your community to be active all year round.
2. Download the How-to Guide to help keep your planning on track and ensure you have a fantastic celebration on Ride2School Day.
3. Download and display the poster around your school to promote your school's commitment to healthy lifestyles. Take this a step further and place it on the school website and newsletter.
