Improving riding conditions
What zero dollars means
A few examples the direct impact of a zero dollar bike budget has:
- Beach Road's Black Rock roundabout redevelopment on hold (currently Victoria's number one bike accident blackspot)
- Infrastructure updates to Chapel Street and Heidleberg Road on hold
- Federation Trail updates and Shepherd's Bridge have been wiped off the plans
- A 500 metre gap in the network (along Dalton Road) misses out on being linked
Bike Budget - Bring it Back! is an ongoing campaign focused on pressuring the Baillieu Government to bring back the bike budget, after their decision to not fund the VicRoads Bicycle Program in the 2012/13 state budget.
The campaign kicked off with a successful rally on the steps of the Victorian Parliament in June and we are taking the campaign to all the places that will miss out on planned bicycle facilities.
More information on the campaign can be found here.
