Bicycle Network Victoria members are covered any time they ride anywhere in Australia and New Zealand

Max of $1,000 per week

Loss of Earnings – You are entitled to 80% of your weekly earnings upon proof, to a max of $1,000 per week for a max of 52 weeks.

A 14 day excess applies where no weekly benefit will be paid.

Non-Medicare Medical costs Up to 85% (combined max of $7,500)

Provided such expenses are not recoverable from any other source, such as Medicare or Private Health Insurance, you are entitled to 85% (combined max of $7,500) of expenses for dentist, orthodontic services prescribed by a surgeon, physiotherapist, chiropractor, osteopath, acupuncturist, massage services and Occupational Therapy (NEW) after referral by a legally qualified medical practitioner. For Private Hospital Expenses there is a sub limit of $1,000.

An excess of $150 applies.

Medicare "gap" N/A Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) will outline what you are covered for under Medicare, and amounts not paid in full by Medicare are not claimable under this (Bicycle Network Victoria membership) insurance as governed by relevant laws of Medicare and Health Insurance.
My bike and accessories N/A

Bike loss or damage is not covered unless whilst participating in a paid Bicycle Network Victoria event. For more information refer to the travel insurance benefit further below.

How do I get my bike and accessories insured?

Overseas riding $50,000

You are entitled to up to $50,000 worth of:

- Overseas Medical Expenses: emergency Medical Expenses incurred (while riding a bicycle) outside Australia, given or prescribed by a legally qualified medical practitioner and which is not recoverable from any other source.

- Repatriation Expenses: additional travel and accommodation costs incurred (due to injuries caused while riding a bicycle) for the return of an insured Bicycle Network Victoria member to Australia on the written advice of a legally qualified medical practitioner and which is not recoverable from any other source.

Travel insurance on Bicycle Network Victoria events $1,000

You are entitled to:

- a refund of 100% up to a max of $1,000 for your loss of deposit if you are unable to participate in the Bicycle Network Victoria event.

- claim 100% up to a max of $1,000 for damaged/lost bikes, clothing, baggage and travel documents. There is a claim limit of $400 per item.

An excess of $150 applies.

Travel insurance on non-Bicycle Network Victoria events N/A

For non-Bicycle Network Victoria run events, no travel insurance applies. Therefore if members are participating in rides that involve a large degree of equipment/luggage, travel and accommodation costs, be it overseas or within Australia, travel insurance might need to be considered separately and in addition to the Bicycle Network Victoria membership.

Rehabilitation $10,000 If a Bicycle Network Victoria member is insured for both permanent injury lump sum benefit and loss of income benefit, cover applies for an additional $10,000 for costs necessarily incurred in rehabilitation provided that the rehabilitation program is prescribed by a legally qualified medical practitioner.
Home help expenses $5,000

You are entitled to $200 per week, subject to a max of $5,000. Covering recognised agency costs as well as partner/spouse costs if partner/spouse incur loss of income associated with home help.

A 7 day excess applies.

Parent inconvenice expenses $5,000 The custodial parents of an insured Bicycle Network Victoria member are entitled to $200 per week, subject to a max of $5,000 while the insured Bicycle Network Victoria member is in hospital.

 

A 7 day excess applies.

Chauffer plan $5,000

You are entitled to $200 per week, subject to a max of $5,000 if you are injured and require a taxi and/or chauffeur car to scheduled business and/or medical appointments if partially incapacitated. This must be certified by a legally qualified practitioner.

A 3 day excess applies.

Home and motor vehicle modification $10,000 If you’re eligible for a capital benefit, you can claim an additional $10,000 for modification expenses.
Lump Sum Payment - Permanent injury $100,000 Lump sum benefits to a max of $100,000 for an injuries disablement and loss/use of senses and/or body parts.
Lump Sum Payment - Death $50,000 Your estate is entitled to claim $50,000 in the event of death of an insured Bicycle Network Victoria member.
Funeral Expenses $5,000 Up to an additional $5,000 in the event of the death of the insured Bicycle Network Victoria member for funeral costs and expenses.

 

What if someone else is involved?

Damage to someone elses property $5million

You are covered for up to $5million worth of expenses incurred if you damage any person’s tangible property whilst riding your bike and you are found legally liable for that damage.

An excess of $1,000 applies.

Injure someone else $5million

You are covered for up to $5million worth of expenses incurred by any person you have caused bodily injury or death whilst riding your bike and you are found legally liable for the cause of injury/death.

An excess of $1,000 applies.
