Day 8 - Copping to Port Arthur

Savour every metre - Tessellated Pavement at 475,140 metres

The rest area today in Pirates Bay Drive will give you the chance to explore the Tessellated Pavement, a rare erosional feature which must be seen.

You will also cross the feared (by every convict) Eaglehawk Neck where we recommend you stop and learn about the dark history of this point. The infamous dog line ensured that the only way of escape for convicts was by water.

The Devils Kitchen, Tasman Arch and Tasman Blowhole are grouped close together just outside Eaglehawk Neck and certainly lend themselves to the reputation of the rugged coastal terrain of the Tasman Peninsula.

Savour every metre - Port Arthur at 496,300 metres

Arriving in Port Arthur, you will be treated as bronze pass ticket holders for the Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and have access to many of the famous attractions and activities. You may even get to meeet Liz (pictured below), an experienced tour guide with over 17 years experience.

Our campsite is literally across the road from the historic site and Saturday night’s celebration dinner will take place within the grounds of the site, which promises to be a truly memorable experience.
