Day 6 - Bicheno to Triabunna

As rolling farmlands meet the sea and the animals graze by the water, today's ride might just tempt you to relocate to this beautiful area. And what better way to spend Valentine's Day! That's right, Day 6 is Valentines Day so spoil your partner by sampling the local wine at one of the many wineries along the way before enjoying the spectacular views at the lookout over Great Oyster Bay.

Great Oyster Bay is a broad and sheltered bay which opens onto the Tasman Sea. Your ride will afford you spectacular views of the rugged granite peaks of the Hazards and Schouten Island of the Freycinet Peninsula, which are incorporated in the Freycinet National Park.

Savour every metre - Swansea at 310,770 metres from Launceston

Being one of the oldest municipalities in Australia, take time to explore the colonial buildings in Swansea. Just to the south of Swansea lie the temptations of Kate's Berry Farm - February is peak berry time so enjoy!

Spiky Bridge near Swansea on the east coast is a quirky feature with convict heritage. It’s well known and promoted as an attraction in the region. But you could easily miss the turnoff to the carpark between Buckland and Bicheno, as the beautiful Tasmanian beaches on the opposite side of the Tasman Highway are breathtaking. It has many a story, some based in fact and some in legend.

Savour every metre - Triabunna at 359,950 metres

The beautiful coastal town of Triabunna is your destination today, which is famous for its mussels, scallops and abalone. You will also have the chance to explore Maria Island at the end of today's ride, a suitable end to Valentine's Day in 2013.
