Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a debilitating disease most often diagnosed when people are in their 20s and 30s. It attacks the protective covering on the nerves, and results in a wide range of unpredictable symptoms. People with MS can have difficulty with movement, sight, chronic pain and fatigue and memory and thinking problems. Often these symptoms occur with no warning.

There are treatments that can reduce the impact of the symptoms, but so far no cure has been found.

Three times as many women than men are affected. Once diagnosed, MS is a life-long disease.

MS affects 20,000 Australians directly, and hundreds of thousands of partners, carers and family members whose everyday lives are also significantly affected.

MS Australia is a coalition of organisations in every state of Australia, and MSA - ACT/NSW/VIC covers most of south-Eastern Australia.

We provide help and information every step of the way for people with MS and their families. From treatments and therapies to respite care, from wellness days and peer support programs to information services, we ensure that everyone with MS has the help they need, when they need it.

We are also the largest funder of MS research in Australia, and our ultimate vision is to see a world free of MS.
