Brisbane's pamper pod plan

Brisbane plans to recruit more commuters by making the route more enticing.

Brisbane's pamper pod plan

23 January 2013. The City of Brisbane is planning juice bars and coffee kiosks along its major river-side bike route in a bid to pamper riders and make riding and walking to work more attractive.

The first of the pamper pods, to be build in shaded areas, will be constructed next month under the Coronation Drive overpass on the Bicentennial Bikeway.

Each location will have seating as well as provide information on routes and road rules.

The council is also expected to trial the provision of bike maintenance stops along the bikeway.

The three planned pods will be privately operated on a licence arrangement and are expected to be operating by the middle of the year.

The Bicentennial bikeway is Brisbane's busiest with more than 5500 riders and pedestrians each day.
