South West: Maddox and Rail Path

A promising and potentially easy to achieve link for Hobsons Bay Council, this link would provide an attractive route for riders coming from further west to link through to Newport and the Footscray precinct and beyond

Election opportunity for candidates to show support

21 August 2012 Bicycle Network Victoria has identified this project as a local council priority for the 2012 Local Government election. Candidates should be ready to support the development and full or partial funding of this project in conjunction with State Government and can tell riders in their Council area their position by posting their candidates' statement at VoteBike.

Misssing Link shown in orange below. This would provide a shorter transport route for riders coming up from the south west to bypass Williamstown precinct and head up to Federation Trail, Hyde Street path and beyond. Council has recently built a high quality path (shown in blue) near Newport station. There is ample space along the east side of Maddox Road and the rail corridor.
