Oban Road gets bike lanes

June 2010 Oban Road in Ringwood now boasts brand new mid-block shared parking and bike lanes.

This is a good result for riders in a challenging part of the network. Some riders may feel miffed by the lack of continuity of lanes at intersections and the frustratingly short missing link at the eastern end of Oban Rd connecting to the Mullum Mullum Creek Path. The lack of continuity at the Maroondah Highway end will also be frustrating to many.

The map below indicates:

A missed opportunity for bikes as a combination of excessive kerb outstands and narrow parking lanes mean riders will have to weave in and out to navigate these obstacles.
