Paris has made a number of investments to increase bike riding as a transport mode.

London plans to cut congestion by stimulating a 400% increase in the number of people pedalling round the capital and will spend £400m on 12 routes that they intend to be ‘two-wheeler superhighways’. The Mayor of London says the investment means ‘thousands more Londoners can cycle in confidence, on routes that take them quickly and safely to where they want to go.’ The bike routes will be developed from the ‘most popular roads already used by cyclists and will have continuous, wide cycle lanes, dedicated junctions and clear signs.’
