An east west connection between Flemington and Parkville.

Construction is complete
17 July 08 There is now a shared path from the tram crossing of Elliott Avenue through to the Avenue in Parkville. Riders can use Racecourse Road lanes, the Elliott Avenue lanes and then get through to the Uni on this new path.
The path is clear - planning approval granted
18 June 08 After a strongly contested Planning Committee meeting the Melbourne City Council has approved the proposed path. This is great news for riders heading to and from the inner north Melbourne education precinct.
Opponents to the path voiced concern over impacts on the parkland and the Burke and Wills Memorial. After consultation the path alignment has been reviewed to address these concerns. We look forward to this project starting soon.
New path proposed to establish east-west route
March 08 The City of Melbourne has proposed to build a new path adjacent to Macarthur Rd, Parkville, to complete the bike route from Flemington. The proposed path runs on the south side of the road and links Elliott Avenue at the tram crossing and The Avenue (refer to green line on the map below).
Macarthur Rd is a heavily trafficked, narrow route and therefore a separated path is an important link to popular destinations such as the northern fringe of the CBD and Melbourne University.
This proposal may face strong opposition from a small number of local residents.
