Werribee Regional Park

A new regional park is about to be developed along the Werribee River adjacent to the Werribee Mansion and Open Range Zoo.

Werribee River aqueduct project to connect Federation Trail

9 January 2009. The rebuilding of the Werribee River aqueduct over the next 18 months and the provision of a shared path bridge over the new structure will provide a connection from the Federation Trail and the Werribee River Trail across the Werribee River to the proposed link to Werribee Park, Mansion and Zoo.

This project gives impetus to the development of the Werribee Park Trail link, which would offer bicycle access from Melbourne and Werribee via the Federation Trail and Werribee River Trail to the Werribee Park Precinct.

There is strong interest within Parks Victoria to aim to complete this link within the next 18 months to coincide with the opening of the aqueduct bridge in mid-2010, which is a sensible plan that meets with our full support.

For details of the Werribee River aqueduct project, see the latest updates on our pages for the Federation Trail and the Werribee River Trail.

The State Government has announced new funding for the Werribee Regional Park that will mean riders from Werribee and the Federation Trail will be able to visit the new park and cross a new bridge to reach the Werribee Tourist Precinct, which includes the Werribee Mansion and the Open Range Zoo.
