Ringwood and Eastland Shopping Centre

Ringwood is a major retail and transport centre in eastern Melbourne. It has the potential for excellent bike access and parking but there are a number of projects that need to happen soon.

Sept 06 - Wantirna Road Bike Lanes. A great project for access to Ringwood

VicRoads has invited comment on a plan for on-road bike lanes on Wantirna Road between Maroondah Highway and Dandenong Creek.

Bicycle Network Victoria strongly supports this project and urges all riders to let VicRoads know that they support the project. Send you emails to Carolyn.Lindsey@roads.vic.gov.au. (please cc us at Bicycle Network Victoria Campaigns).

The bike lanes will provide a good link into the heart of Ringwood.

Unfortunately this project has received some negative publicity from some local traders who fear 'traffic chaos'. We can find no logical explanation for these fears given that the road is currently a single lane road and parking for the businesses will not be affected.
