Grampians Rail Trail Continues to Grow
The trail between Stawell and Grampians is being constructed by Stawell Secondary College with funding from Powercorp and assistance from Water Catchment Management Authority.
The Trail is expected to reach Illawarra Mount Dryden Road by sometime in 2009, which is roughly midway between Stawell and Halls Gap

January 2005 Students have constructed 2.5km of rail trail but it is not publicly accessible yet. They are also doing bridge construction with an 80m boardwalk to be constructed by the woodwork class. The trail has been a finalist in Worksafe Award.
The rail trail is being constructed on an old railway line that ran between Stawell and the Heatherlie quarry near the Grampians.
An official opening of a complete section is expected to take place in 2005.
