East: Anniversary Outer Circle Trail - Campaign Updates
This popular trail in Boroondara provides a north-south link through the municipality. It connects to the Main Yarra Trail (Mel Ref 45 E2) in the north, and the Gardiners Creek Trail (69 B2) in the south.
East: Bayswater to Belgrave Rail path
This path is mostly complete, but has some key gaps and vital points along the railway line from Bayswater Station to Belgrave
East: Corhanwarabul Creek
This is a short creek Trail in the City of Knox in Melbourne's east
East: Dandenong Creek Trail
The Dandenong Creek Trail begins in Kilsyth (Melway Ref 65 G4) and continues 44 km south west through to Patterson Lakes (97 C7).
East: Eastern Rail Corridor Path - Ringwood to Box Hill
Linking two Central Activity Districts this path would be immensely popular with both commuting and recreational riders
East: EastLink Trail
As part of the $2.5 billion EastLink project to link Melbourne's eastern suburbs with Frankston, 36km of new shared paths and 20km of links to existing paths were promised. And now . . . delivered.
East: Gardiners Creek Trail
This route starts at the Main Yarra Trail in Toorak, near St Kevin's College (Melway Ref 59 A1), and follows Gardiners Creek through Glen Iris, Malvern, Burwood, Ashwood, Box Hill and ends near the Blackburn Lake Sanctuary (Melway Ref 47 K12).
East: Koonung Creek Trail
The Koonung Creek Trail follows the Eastern Fwy from Springvale Rd (Melway 48 F5) to Burke Rd (Melway 31 K11) where it connects with the Main Yarra Trail

East: Lilydale - Yarra Glen Rail Corridor
The 12km railway between Lilydale and Yarra Glen is one of the best potential trails around! Located on the outskirts of Melbourne, this trail can be directly accessed via either a short drive or directly from the Lilydale train line. The rail trail will begin in Lilydale, and will continue north through the winery heartland of Coldstream and Yering and conclude at the (soon to be refurbished) Yarra Glen Station. The route also provides a convenient connection for locals between Lilydale and Yarra Glen and will connect to the well-established Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail.
East: Main Yarra Trail
The Main Yarra Trail starts in Templestowe at the Mullum Mullum Creek (Melway 22 B11) and follows Melbourne's best-known waterway all the way to Southbank in the city.
East: Main Yarra Trail - Gipps Street steps & bridge
Parks Victoria is delivering a new bridge to cross the Yarra River from south of the Abbotsford Convent to join the Main Yarra Trail at Andrews Reserve and Yarra Bend Park and avoid the Gipps Street steps.
East: Mullum Mullum Path
The Mullum Mullum Creek Linear Park (MMCLP) extends 16 kilometres from where the creek originates near Cherry Tree Grove, Croydon and ends at the confluence of Mullum Mullum Creek and the Yarra River at Tikalara Park, Templestowe. The Mullum Mullum Creek flows through the Cities of Maroondah, Whitehorse and Manningham.
East: O'Shannassy Trail
Linking the Mitcham-to-Syndal Water pipe track to the Ringwood CAD and out through Croydon, Kilsyth and out to the Lilydale-Warburton Rail Trail in Mt Evelyn
East: Ringwood to Notting Hill Pipe Track
A painfully obvious path which needs to be built immediately
East: Scotchmans Creek Trail

East: Taralla Creek Trail/Croydon Main Drain
This trail in Melbourne's east in the City of Maroondah runs south from central Croydon to Canterbury Road, nearly reaching the Dandenong Creek
East: Wheelers Hill Transmission Line
Parts of this trail exist between Scotchmans Creek Trail and Jells Park in the City of Monash
East: Yarra Trail at Chandler Highway

Inner: Capital City Trail
Improving the Inner Circle Railway path from Flemington Bridge Rail Station to Rushall Rail Station. (Part of the Captial City Trail). The Capital City Trail overlaps with the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail, heads through Docklands and along the Main Yarra Trail through the CBD and inner eastern suburbs up to the junction with the Merri Creek.

Inner: Docklands
A major part of inner Melbourne and the bicycle network with the Footscray Rd path and Moonooe Ponds Creek path feeding thousands of riders every day onto the Capital City Trail through Docklands to the CBD and the Main Yarra Trail
Inner: Main Yarra Trail - Southbank to Bay Trail Link
Establish southern link between Southbank and Todd Road, Fishermans bend by utilising old Webb Dock railway line (adjacent to Lorimer Street) and connecting to existing infrastructure at 'Yarra's Edge' precinct.
Inner: Manningham St Bridge, Parkville
This bridge will remove a dozen steps from the Capital City Trail between the Moonee Ponds Creek and the Zoo, and allow riders to cross above a busy road. It will be a significant enhancement to the Trail which is used by commuters and recreational riders
Inner: Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade
Bicycle Network Victoria has been working with Transurban, VicRoads and the Monash Alliance to minimise the impact of Monash-CityLink-West Gate Upgrade project on riders.
Inner: NorthBank of the Yarra
Northbank refers to the section of the Yarra Trail on the north side of the river from Punt Road (City of Melbourne boundary) to the Eel Trap Bridge at the South end of Docklands.
Inner: NorthBank Viaduct
An exciting opportunity for bikes to circumnavigate the CBD and avoid the conflict along existing paths along Southbank and Northbank, connect Docklands to the Main Yarra Trail and relieve congestion in the inner area
Inner: Rushall Precinct
The Rushall Station precinct defines a complex junction in the bike network. The triangle-shaped precinct is where the Capital City Trail & Merri Creek Trail meets the St Georges Rd Path & on-road route, and the Westgarth St & Heidelberg Rd routes. A local route connects to the north end of the Napier St route.

This pages covers the bike route on the south side of the river from Punt Road (City of Melbourne boundary) to the Eel Trap Bridge at the western end of the Convention Centre project and possible westward extensions along the Webb Dock railway line and connections to the Bay Trail and Westgate Park.

The rail corridor presents a fantastic opportunity to better connect the community to the rest of the Metropolitan Trail Network and provide a high transport function
North: Dalton Rd Path
A critical missing link only 500 metres long is the only obstacle for a large part of the north east community connecting to the rest of the bicycle network.
North: Darebin Creek Trail
The Darebin Creek runs from the north of Melbourne to the Ring Road in Bundoora (outer section). From there the creek flows south past La Trobe University to join the Yarra in Alphington (inner section). The Darebin Creek Trail is not yet continuous - see box opposite.
North: Diamond Creek Trail
The Diamond Creek Trail is 12 kilometres long and links Diamond Creek with the Main Yarra Trail. It starts at Nillumbik Park (Melway Ref 12 A5) and joins the Main Yarra Trail in Candlebark Park (Melway Ref 21 H12).
North: Greensborough Bypass Path
In 2006 Vicroads completed the Greensborough Bypass between the Ring Road and Diamond Creek Rd. This connects up to the Ring Rd Path and will connect to the Main Yarra Trail via the Path being constructed along Greensborough Rd and the River Gum Walk path
North: Merri Creek Trail
The Merri Creek Trail commences at Dights Falls where it joins the Main Yarra Trail (Melway 44 F3) and follows the Merri Creek to Moomba Park where it joins the Western Ring Rd path (Melway 7 J11). It is approximately 25km in length.

North: Plenty River Trail
The Plenty River Trail links Greensborough to the Main Yarra Trail, Melbourne's CBD and the Metropolitan Trail Network.
North: River Gum Walk
The River Gum Walk shared path provides a connection from Lower Plenty Rd (Melway 20 D11) to the Main Yarra Trail (Melway 32 E3)
North: Steele Creek Path
Steele Creek runs from the southern boundary of Melbourne Airport south to the Maribyrnong River.
North: Taylors Creek
Extending northwards towards Watergardens from Brimbank Park, Taylors Creek is a key off-road link in this area of Metropolitan Melbourne
North: Upfield Bike Path
The Upfield Bike Path commences near the Flemington Bridge railway station (Melway Ref 2A D1) where it joins the Moonee Ponds Creek Trail and follows the Upfield railway line for 6km. It ends at Boundary Rd Merlynston (Melway Ref 17 G6) near Merlynston Station.
North: Yan Yean Waterpipe Path
The water pipe reservation represents a fantastic opportunity to provide a direct way to connect a dense population with the rest of Melbourne's Metropolitan Trail Network, providing both a strong transport and recreational function.
North: Yuroke Creek Trail

Parks and Gardens in the City of Melbourne
This section covers the issue of bike riding in areas defined by the City of Melbourne as Parks and Gardens.
South: Bay Trail 1 (Port Melbourne to Frankston)
This section of the Bay Trail starts at Fisherman's Bend at West Gate Park and carries all the way through to Frankston.
South: Bay Trail 2 (Patterson River to Humphries Road)
This is the section of the Bay Trail that is in the City of Frankston.
South: Bay Trail 3 (Frankston to Point Nepean)
The southern end of the Bay Trail from Frankston to Point Nepean, much of this route is complete, although there are several considerable gaps keeping the route from connecting all the way from north to south
South: Cranbourne Gardens - Frankston Link
This unbuilt trail would link the Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne and the Langwarrin Flora & Fauna Reserve, and provide a new recreational bike riding route for a considerable growth area
South: Dandenong to Caulfield Rail Path
This path is on both the Metropolitan Trail Network and VicRoads' Principal Bicycle Network. It represents a fanatastic opportunity to provide a strong transport function as well as recreational opportunities and would provide many key links into the CBD, Box Hill, Ringwood and Frankston CADs
South: Elster Creek / Elwood Canal Shared Path

South: Eumemmering Creek Trail
The Eumemmering Creek connects the Patterson River to the Hallam Main Drain, and connects the junction of the South Gippsland Highway and the Monash Freeway to Lysterfield Lake Mountain Biking Park. A trail would link these points together
South: Frankston-Flinders Road Trail
This trail is partially built, running near the line of Frankston-Flinders Road between Langwarrin Flora & Fauna Reserve and Hastings on Westernport Bay
South: Hallam Main Drain & Berwick Town Drain
The Hallam Main Drain Trail can be built on or alongside the waterpipe route from the Eummemering Creek/South Gippsland Highway junction in the east, to the Berwick town centre and Monash University (Berwick Campus) in the west
South: Monash Fwy Hallam Bypass
Bicycle Network Victoria pushed hard for a shared path connection as part of the project
South: Moorabbin to Caulfield Rail Path
South: Shrives Road shared path
The shared path from Narre Warren Creek to the station needs to be upgraded to give riders better access to public transport.
West: Bay Trail West
The Bay Trail when completed will run from the National Park at Point Nepean on the east side of Port Phillip Bay to the Werribee River in the west. The western section starts at the Yarra and follows the Bay to Williamstown and then south and west towards the Werribee River.
West: Federation Trail
The campaign focus is now on the section east from Millers Road to the Yarra in Spotswood.
West: Kororoit Creek Path
A key link in the west runs between the Western Ring Rd path and the Bay Trail. Two major gaps are holding back local commuter and recreational riding in the area. The gap north of the Federation Trail is now funded but the southern gap towards the Bay Trail is disrupting what should be a great circuit.
West: M80 Ring Road Path
The M80 Ring Road Path begins at the end of the Merri Creek Trail (Mel Ref 7 J11) and connects to the Federation Trail in Laverton (Mel Ref 40 D11)
West: Maribyrnong River Trail - updates
The trail starts outside Scienceworks in Spotswood (where it intersects with Bay Trail West) and follows the Maribyrnong River north to Brimbank Park in Keilor.
West: Regional Rail Link - Outer
The State Government has announced the Regional rail link between Werribee and Sunshine rail Corridor is proceeding. The plans include a path along both sides of the corridor
