Less round sleep sound

Sleeping disorders, such as insomnia and fatigue, are commonly linked with obesity and can be detrimental to cardiovascular health. However, a paper presented at the American Heart Association Scientific Sessions conference by researchers from Johns Hopkins University has found evidence that weight loss can kill two birds with one stone.

Study participants were aged 35-65 with type 2 diabetes or prediabetes and completed a six-month weight loss program either through diet or a combination of diet and exercise. Researchers found that study participants experienced significant improvement in their sleeping patterns that coincided with weight loss, regardless of how the weight was lost. What researchers describe as the “novel” element of their findings is that a better night’s sleep appeared to be directly linked with the loss of fat around participants' bellies.
