Bicycle Network: Where to Ride
Trail Shuttle Buses
We are working towards setting up regular, convenient shuttle bus services on some of the busier and more popular Rail Trails, with the goal of having more people out riding the trails more often.
The Plan
Many private shuttle bus operators in Regional Victoria and near many of the State's Rail Trails are already open to offering their services to bike riders.
Many of these operators work on a charter basis - ferrying riders to one end of the trail to another, or by taking groups of riders to starting points along the trails. Tickets for this kind of service can often be booked by organising directly with the operator.
We are hoping to help organise and support scheduled services that will run at regular times along some of Victoria's Rail Trails.
The list of pages to the left is an initial look at where we are hoping to get regular services up. Some, if not all, are already served by irregular shuttle routes that run on an ad hoc basis when there is sufficient demand. This is useful, but unpredictable, both for riders and for the shuttle operators.
Our initial goals are to have regular services running on each of these routes one day a month, which is predictable and convenient and will help get more people riding these trails.
