Mayors on Bikes 2007
"Next Generation Bike Networking" Mayors on Bikes is a part of Ride to Work Day, on 17 October, and is being hosted by Port Phillip City Council. The event involves the Mayors, Councillors and key senior staff from interested municipalities joining in a bike ride together, followed by lunch, speakers and a group discussion.
Next Generation Bike Networking
Sep 07 Mayors on Bikes provides a wonderfully informal networking and information sharing
event that is invaluable to any Councillor interested in transport and planning issues.
Starting at Federation Square we will visit some of the new generation bike facilities.
The event will be held on:

Meet at Federation Square, finish in St Kilda
Mayors on Bikes 2007 will feature a short bike ride highlighting some key facilities in
Port Phillip, and then onto the a venue for lunch and speaker presentations.
The City of
A ride of about 10km across the City of Port Phillip will have you climbing no higher than a couple of metres in total as the gentle undulations lead us from the South Melbourne Market via Albert Park to St Kilda and Elwood before settling in for lunch at the famous Café Racer, hotspot for local commuters, professional cyclists and many of the 1000s of cyclists hitting the Beach Road each weekend.
We welcome you to invite one of your staff to accompany you for the ride and lunch at Café Racer.

Building a Cycling Culture - Council and Community Partnerships
Sep 06 The theme for this year’s event is "Building a Cycling Culture - Council and Community
Partnerships". The morning will demonstrate how both Maribyrnong and VicHealth are
promoting the health and social benefits of cycling in our communities and how other
local governments can learn from this experience.

Mayors on Bikes 2006 will feature a short bike ride highlighting some key facilities in
Maribyrnong, a riverside morning tea at the scenic Pipemakers Park, and then back to
the Town Hall for speaker presentations and lunch.

- Cr Janet Rice, Mayor of Maribyrnong and Chair of the Metropolitan Transport
