Ron Shepherd, a founding and honorary lifetime Member of Bicycle Network Victoria and towering figure in Victorian cycling, passed away in January 2004.
According to Keith Dunstan, an old friend of Ron's:
"Ron Shepherd was the master touring cyclist. There was not a touring cyclist he did not touch.
"He was the driving force who brought back the bicycle to Melbourne, and the great bicycling boom that began in the early 1970s. It continues even now."
