My commitment: I have always supported funding for cycling projects and will consider to do so. The priorities for action are set out in the Whitehorse Bicycle Strategy, adopted by Council in 2007. This strategy was devised with input from local cycling groups. Some of the actions are dependant on State government funding as they are on government roads. To date State governments have been reluctant to commit such funding, so continued advocacy has to be part of Council's actions. My particular interest is in getting schoolchildren to either ride or walk to school, thus reducing the amount of cars on roads.
