My commitment: I would be honoured to serve as a Councillor for the Rosstown Ward, to ensure responsible and effective local governance that is responsive to the community’s needs. In particular, I hope to advocate for: - Improving safe cycling infrastructure - Continued investment in public parks, libraries, sporting facilities, meeting spaces and community hubs - Increasing opportunities for residents of all ages to be involved in sporting and other activities to promote healthy lifestyles - Retaining Carnegie swimming pool - Improving services for elderly persons, people with disabilities and carers within our ward - Supporting families and youth - Increasing access to childcare - Provision of quality maternal and child health services - Offering increased community consultation and involvement in local issues - Increasing safety on the streets and in open spaces - Improving sustainable street lighting - Fighting graffiti and dumped rubbish - Developing a stronger sense of community - Increasing opportunities for community participation - Strengthening community support and financial counseling in challenging economic times - Acting in a sustainable manner and making environmentally responsible decisions - Standing up against inappropriate over-development and maintaining neighbourhood character - Improving strip shopping centres - Lobbying State Government to allocate funding for grade separation of railway crossings at McKinnon, Ormond, Glenhuntly, Carnegie, Hughesdale and Murrumbeena stations - Keeping rates low and retaining the pensioner rebate
