My commitment: I have recently returned to cycling as my main form of transport and appreciate Yarra Council's efforts to make Yarra a safe and friendly environment for cyclists. The Greens on Yarra Council initiated Council's Bicycle Strategy, and have worked to upgrade bike paths and install more bike parking. As a team and if re-elected, the Greens will advocate for the installation of Copenhagen Lanes on Wellington St, one of the first decisions facing the new Council. However, we are keen to minimise impacts on traders and have already initiated a trader advisory group to comment on the design of the Copenhagen Lanes. We also aim to assist new bike riders by creating safe and continuous bicycle lanes and providing training to new riders. Yarra’s sustainable transport policies are working – more people are riding and walking and fewer people are driving cars.
