My commitment: As someone who chooses not to own a car, I know the importance of investment in sustainable transport options. I believe that cycling has so much to offer our community: It gets people out of their homes and into the fresh air, providing a great form of exercise that can improve our health and wellbeing; it’s an affordable transport option that costs far less than buying and maintaining a car; every bike on the street can mean one less car on the road – that means less traffic congestion and less pollution in the air; fewer cars also means less noise pollution, making our streets quieter and more peaceful. I, together with other Stonnington Greens candidates and our team of passionate volunteers will advocate for safer cycling in Stonnington so that more people will be able to enjoy this wonderful form of transport – whether it be as a commuter cyclist, a serious sports rider or someone who simply enjoys getting outdoors.
