Candidate for Hobsons Bay (VIC)
Party: Greens
I live in city/suburb: Altona
My commitment: I am a recreational and commuter cyclist and recognise the different needs for both groups and will work to improve the cycling infrastructure for both. Hobsons Bay BiXE rating has improved but it is still below average for middle zone councils and my aim will be to increase per person expenditure. If elected I will work to complete the Federation trail east of Millers Rd for commuter cyclists, and provide a link between Cherry Lake and the Princes Hwy along the Kororoit Creek. The last section of the Laverton Creek trail also needs completion through the Truganina swamp area. I will work with neighbouring councils to lobby the State government to reinstate funding for critical projects such as Shepherd Bridge, and I will lobby for the Westgate punt to be included in zone 1 ticketing. I am committed to the Ride2School program and will work for safe cycling routes and crossings around schools. I have a vision for Hobsons Bay as a healthy city that encourages cyclists of all ages, where cycling is a viable alternative to car transport. I hope to have the privilege to work on council towards that vision.
