I live in city/suburb: Elsternwick
My commitment: As a long time commuter and more recently recreational cyclist I strongly support all aspects of cycling. As our inner city areas increase in density all measures to increase the capacity of alternate transport modes need to be embraced. With respect to the two major issues for Glen Eirea as identified by the Bicycle Network my position is: East Boundary/Murrumbeena Road Link - full support for a project that links substantial cycling paths and is a natural fit for the recreational facilities already developed by Council along the route. Cycling is a great warm-up activity for a session at GESAC. Orrong Road Cycle Lane Update - full support to the enhacement of safety measures to allow cyclists to enjoy a ride along this road which has the capacity to allow cycling lanes. With respect to the two other identified issues: Parkiteer - strong support for a pragmatic solution to inner city cycle storage that removes a major impediment to cycling for transport and one that has the capacity to remove the loss of local resident parking amenities in the vicinity of railway stations. Ride2School - takes me back to my childhood where it was ride a bike or walk to school. You have my full support for another great initiative that provides an enduring source of exercise for children and also carries the potential for long-term health enhancement as participants learn the benefits of fresh air and exercise.
