I live in city/suburb: Malvern
My commitment: As a potential councillor in East Ward, City of Stonnington, I will work with Council and closely with Stonnington bicycle users and Bicycle Victoria Network in identifying and improving :- ~ dedicated bike paths ~ bike lanes on roads ~ bike racks / parking facilities in East Ward, City of Stonnington. REASON ~ many of the existing bike paths need to be resurfaced, some should be widened due to cracking / heavy usage most need new / better signage ~ the dedicated bike lane in Tooronga Road (in both directions) links Boroondara to Glen Eira is an excellent example As a local resident remarked: "If I was to ride from my home to Glenferrie Road to do my banking (CBA, ANZ and Westpac ~ next to each other) INSTEAD OF TAKING MY CAR there is very limited bike parking racks / for locking bikes". I will do my best to remedy this situation, because if most homes in Malvern have a car they are more than likely to have at least one bicycle. Let's get the bikes mobile again in the city in a safe and secure manner.
