Candidate for Boroondara (VIC)
Party: Independent
I live in city/suburb: Kew East
My commitment: As the Bellevue Ward councillor for the past 4 years, I have supported Council's budget for the ongoing development of the off-road bike trail network within Boroondara and if re-elected I will continue to do so. Highlights during my term as councillor have been the completion of many enhancements to the shared trail network in and around the Bellevue Ward, of which Council’s program of safer road crossings is perhaps the most important. l was a strong supporter of improvements to the shared trail through Hyde Park in Kew East and of the associated construction of a much safer crossing at Kilby Road, which now provides a safe and convenient link to the Main Yarra Trail. I have also been an active champion of sustainable transport alternatives and took the lead role in gaining the Council’s support for options being developed by the State government for a Doncaster Railway. Such a railway will not only take cars off the roads but, if constructed in conjunction with extended tram links along Burke Road and Doncaster Road as advocated by myself and the Boroondara Council, will create a fast and convenient public transport option for Bellevue Ward residents. This will remain a high priority for me.
