My commitment: Obviously to make a responsible decision, I would need to study the options and the process to date in detail before making any definitive statements. However, I can unequivocally declare that, as a Greens candidate, I would support, as a priority, making safe, efficient cycling a feature of the Kingston municipality. As part of their transport policy the Greens include the goal of providing 'more cycle ways and footpaths to encourage walking, cycling and public transport use in towns and cities to reduce the need for private car ownership and use.' As well as a sometimes viable means of transport, cycling is also a very healthy recreation enjoyed by all age groups. Given the health benefits, the social connections and the environmental advantages of cycling, I would certainly be working towards a workable (and hopefully speedy) outcome.
