My commitment: A New Voice for Port Phillip James Griffith I am a new voice in local politics; I am young, enthusiastic and determined to deliver through a third way of the business and environment together, with cycling and transport a key part of this vision! Business and the environment should be complementary to each other and not be in competition. I have proved this myself through taking a leadership position at my work place where our firm became the first green accredited Estate Agency in Victoria. This has been recognised in the local area with a finalist position in the 2012 Citi Power Port Phillip Business Excellence Awards Environmental Leadership Category. What I am advocating is to see a Bike Awareness Campaign. This will be from the beach side to the city side of Port Phillip. The Marque event of this campaign will be an annual one Sunday a year whole of community event with a bike ride encompassing the entire council area ending in the capital of Port Phillip Emerald Hill. This will encourage business; providing an event that draws the community and ensures that the economic power of cycling is felt in Emerald Hill. Having this bike ride through the entire council area ending in Clarendon Street will help the environment while helping local business, community groups and raise awareness of cycling as a transport alternative in the community. This would become a marque Melbourne cycling event bringing together bike owners from across Melbourne to converge as one on Port Phillip's capital Emerald Hill.
