Candidate for Darebin (VIC)

Party: Greens

I live in city/suburb: Fairfield

My commitment: Over the election period I've been having conversations with traders in High St, Northcote and Station St, Fairfield about the need to ensure there is adequate bike parking facilities in Darebin's shopping strips. I'm also keen to solve bike parking issues around Darebin's train stations which in some places is becoming a real problem due to the number of bike / train commuters we have. A wonderful problem to have, but a problem nonetheless given we don't currently have enough bike parking available! I'd like to see the possibility of an on-street carral in High Street investigated for both Northcote and Preston. I am committed to pursuing bike lanes in Darebin Road, and I ride this route myself. When working in the city I'm also an occasional bike commuter (when not travelling by train), and I think the Westgarth / South Crescent route to the CBD deserves some attention. I'm committed to cycling as a form of sustainable travel, exercise and fun for adults and children alike.
