My commitment: George is keen for Chapel Street to be integrated into the wider bicycle network. The Victorian Government has committed to funding some of the works required for Chapel Street, on Council George will ensure that the new cycling strategy is a priority to complete and implement. The existing strategy was completed in 2006. Council's Bicycle Parking Survey, January 2011, made recommendations on providing bicycle-parking signage, considers creating parking islands to accommodate 16-24 bicycles and standard cyclist recognition and streetscape aesthetics. George is concerned that only 31 respondents completed the survey and may not represent the true wishes of cyclists. George will ensure the survey is boosted and the east-west sections of the network are integrated to fully utilise this sensible alternative means of transportation and highly participated sport.
