My commitment: Council in the 2011 / 2012 financial year spent $836,000 on bicycle works throughout the City. This equates to approximately $6.96 per head of Banyule’s population. Banyule has almost completed the section of the Darebin Creek bicycle path under Lower Heidelberg Road into Sparks Reserve, which will significantly reduce travel times for cyclists and be great for recreational cyclists. The total cost of the bicycle link will be just over half a million dollars with Council and Parks Victoria sharing the cost on a 50:50 basis. Jenny will be continuing to invest in cycling infrastructure in the next term.
