Candidate for Melbourne (VIC)
Party: The Greens
I live in city/suburb: Kensington
My commitment: As a Greens candidate for Melbourne City Council, I am committed to fast-tracking the expansion of Melbourne’s bike network and making this a budget priority. This expansion would start with the 49 routes identified in the City of Melbourne’s Bike Plan. We will also make cycling safer by creating separated bike lanes along streets with a high incidence of dooring accidents, starting with the lengths of St Kilda Rd and Elizabeth St. You can view the Greens’ complete, and detailed transport policy for the City of Melbourne here: www.melbournecitygreens.com/transport. I ride to work at the University of Melbourne from Kensington, and the intersection at Macaulay Road and Canning St is frightening. Upgrading the route along Macaulay Road / Canning Street / Abbotsford Street will make the bike commute safer for a lot of people who travel to the University and hospitals precinct, and will create an important intermodal connection with Macaulay Station.
