Candidate for Melbourne (VIC)
Party: The Greens
I live in city/suburb: North Melbourne
My commitment: As the Greens candidate for Lord Mayor of Melbourne, I am committed to fast-tracking the expansion of Melbourne’s bike network and I will make this a budget priority. This expansion would start with the 49 routes identified in the City’s Bike Plan. I would also make cycling safer by creating separated bike lanes along streets with a high incidence of dooring accidents, starting with the lengths of St Kilda Rd and Elizabeth St. You can view our complete, and detailed transport policy for the City of Melbourne here: http://www.melbournecitygreens.com/transport. I want Melbourne to be a city that is known for its cycling culture, but our transport system still prioritises cars and the State Government has given up on bikes. As Lord Mayor, I will put safe, connected cycling infrastructure at the centre of transport planning in Melbourne.
